About

Hello thank you for reaching out! Whether you are just thinking about counseling, wondering if it could help you, or ready to take the next step in your mental health wellness.  I would love to work with you and get to know you. I believe so many of us are not experiencing relationships where we feel heard and supported, whether that is our family, our spouses or our friends.  Many times anxiety, depression and other pervasive mental health concerns has lead us to engage in coping skills that are just not working for us.  I am here to tell you that life can be different.  During my time as a therapist I have seen couples rebuild broken relationships to loving, nurturing and supportive ones.  I have seen families reconnect to having close and comforting relationships.  I have seen people with anxiety learn to function in a happier healthier way.  I have also seen those with depression look forward to life again.  It is possible!  My personality comes out in my approach with clients,  I am fun, light hearted, caring and value all my clients.  My goal is to show my clients  they have what it takes to live a joyful and fulfilling life. You will be greeted with a warm welcome, a caring heart and complete regard as we work together to help you achieve your goals. My years of being a mom, a wife, daughter and friend has given me valuable insight into what works and doesn’t work in relationships.  My training and experience has given me the knowledge and direction to get to the root causes and find healthy solutions for my clients to reach their goals.  When seeking a therapist the single most determining factor in success for the client is, how does the client get along with the therapist.  If you are unsure if therapy is the right approach or if you would like to meet me before we schedule you can request a 15 min consultation.  I can assure you we will talk about hard things,  their will be hurt, but I am here to walk you through that every step of the way, to help get you through the process to the other side.  The single most important advice I give to clients, is “Don’t wait one minute longer to start the healing process”.   I have had much diversity training, and as a minority women I am knowledgeable on many different cultural norms. I welcome everyone no matter race, culture, gender or sexual orientation.

This work is more than a career for me—it is a calling.  My first career was in the accounting field where I had my own Certified Public Accounting Practice. I have seen mental health concerns affect so many people in corporate America as well as in every day lives.  Dysfunction is one constant in all walks of life.  I chose to be a therapist because I knew I could make a difference.  I know therapy works.  I am so blessed to be in a field where I can help my clients achieve the life they deserve and want.  I am in a place now that I know I am making a difference and the reward of that I am truly grateful for.

Outside of counseling, I am involved in volunteering with the homeless population of Columbus.  Helping families find secure housing and shelter. Helping those in the underprivledged communities is a passion of mine.  On my free time I love spending time with my husband a former special forces operator, my son a college student, and my little girl.  I like dancing, movies, and karaoke. I also spend much time volunteering in the homeschool community and helping younger mom’s maneuver parenting. My life is full but one of my greatest joys is my job and my clients.

Treatment Approach

I draw from a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices to create a tailored approach that meets the unique needs of each client. My goal is always to provide compassionate, individualized support that helps people navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence.

I enjoy working with adults, children, families, parents, and couples, and I have a particular passion for helping clients work through issues related to self-esteem, trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, and codependency.

Education and Training

Before becoming a counselor, I spent 25 years working as a CPA. While that career offered valuable experience, I always felt a deeper calling to walk alongside others in a more personal and meaningful way. Eventually, I made the decision to pursue that lifelong passion and earned my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Capital Bible Seminary.  I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.  I am also certified in Trauma Informed Care.

I have had the privilege of working in, community mental health, private practice and school settings. Through these experiences, I have continued to deepen my clinical skills and expand my understanding of the many ways people heal and grow.
